Seeff Hermanus Soiree - Local Wine and Live Music

Category Area Focus

A soiree is an evening party involving the enjoyment of music and, in our case, the added delight of sampling some of our Hemel-en-Aarde and nearby Botriver's finest wines. The evening will be hosted by Burgundy Restaurant (who will showcase wines of Botriver - Beaumont, Gabrielskloof, Benguela Cove & Villion Wines), and The Wine Glass Hermanus (who will flaunt wines of the Hemel-en-Aarde wine region - Hermanuspietersfontein, Creation, Seven Springs & Ataraxia Wines). Both esteemed restaurants boast fine dining and have wonderful platter and starter options to keep the table vibing into the night.

Burgundy offers flavoursome starters such as delectable cheese croquettes, jalapeño poppers, fish cakes, springbok carpaccio, bobotie spring rolls, prawn tempura, soup, and caesar salad. Platters include a tapas tasting platter with a selection of cold meats, artichoke, halloumi, ciabatta, feta, pickled mushrooms and olives. Or, a South African cheese platter with crackers and preserves, or a seafood platter with prawns, fishcakes, calamari tubes, steamed mussels, hake, with chips or jasmine rice. Their abalone, calamari and mussels come in a smaller portion too, if you're not ready for mains.

The Wine Glass also offers a mouthwatering cheese platter, that includes Cremona gorgonzola, Colby, mature Gruberg, Havarti, Leyden, Overberg and smoked Stanford cheeses, and cajun spiced and camembert, coupled with grilled yellow and red peppers, preserved fig, crackers and ciabatta. Along with salads, Vietnamese or Cape Malay spring rolls, kudu carpaccio, patatas bravas, zucchini and rosemary fries, perlemoen arancini, salt & pepper squid, and chimichurri ostrich meatballs.

The first event will kick off Thursday, 4 August 2022 from 17h00 till 20h00, but there's no need to stop the party as the wines showcased are available for your sipping pleasure for the entire evening. Both restaurants offer delicious dining and desserts to round off the night.

It is envisioned that this event will be held monthly, and guests can walk freely between the restaurants - hopping from Botriver to Hemel-en-Aarde tastings as they please. Each restaurant will offer wines from four wineries, so guests will experience eight different farms' produce. Each winery will set up a tasting station where you can have a chat about their vintages and tasting notes.

Tickets are available through Quicket at R150 per person, which includes a glass and 10 tasting coupons. Additional wine tasting coupons are available. Wines can be ordered at the tasting stations for delivery.
