Hermanus Valley Farm - A Serene Haven

The entire farm has been built from scratch, poles planted, irrigation lines laid and the dam walls raised. Rows of olive trees line the entrance, with an olive store, perfect for making your very own olive oil. There are roughly 7 hectares of olive trees with the potential to produce approximately 80 tons of olives.

The farm has two hectares of proteas, a nursery and a potting house for a small-scale plant business. The proteas where previously managed by a commercial protea farmer. Pine trees create a wonderful shady cove on the side of the middle dam, where a caravan is parked and tents can be pitched, with an ablution block nearby.

There is a formal workshop of 340m², an office and personnel amenities block as well as a shed for packing for the olives. Two diesel tanks are situated next to the shed.

The cottage, which you will call home, offers 2 bedrooms, a dining area, kitchen, bathroom and a loft, plus a garage and a spacious workshop. In addition, There is a self-catering bachelor flatlet, a few metres from the cottage, offering excellent views.

The cottage overlooks a dam, a few metres from your home, and is teeming with fish, fringed by reeds where the finches nest. The farm has major potential, using gravitational pull due to its elevation of the dams (of which there are three) to run irrigation without the use of pumps. Currently, the two upper dams are used for irrigation, but the third could also be used with the assistance of pumps. There has never been a winter that the dams have not filled. Sable antelope and Nyala buck are so at peace here that they breed successfully in well-built camps. The five fenced game camps measure 25ha and has two game bomas for shelter and keeping buck who need extra care, separate.

The farm has a resident manager who knows everything about tending to the animals and plants, landscaping, irrigation and the works. He is a plumber by trade and has been on the farm for 25 years.


For a breathtaking day out with wine, fine food as well as a water park and putt-putt for the kids, you’re less than 7 km from Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate. For a luxurious day at the spa, or a round of golf, Arabella Hotel, Golf & Spa is a mere 4 km from away . The farm is roughly 7km from the N2 national road, making it easily accessible, as well as being only 100km from Cape Town. The dams have comprehensive irrigation which is gravity fed from either the top dam of 20 000m3 capacity, or the house dam with a capacity of 13 000m3. No pumping costs with irrigation as it is electronically controlled over the irrigation cycles of the olive groves.
