Vermont at a glance
The little village of Vermont is usually spoken of in the same breath as its immediate neighbour, Onrus. These two villages border each other on a number of green belts which maintain fynbos and prolific bird life in this area. Vermont is mainly a holiday village although a number of people have in recent years moved here permanently to enjoy the tranquil and peaceful area. Vermont boasts a large number of undeveloped, vacant plots, just waiting for you to come and pick out the perfect view and build your dream home. Other properties include spacious and luxurious villas and homes, cosy cottages and bungalows and housing developments. The area is also perfect for mature buyers looking for a slower pace of life during their golden years.
A beautiful coastal path meanders from Onrus along the coastline right through to the magnificent sand dunes at Brekvisbaai (Breakfast Bay), one of the most unspoilt quaint beaches in the area and a perfect spot for an early outdoor breakfast or watching the sun go down with a picnic.
The Vermont Salt Pan is a seasonal ecologically sensitive area teeming with bird-life including magnificent flamingos which make an amazing backdrop in flight against the majestic mountains.
The entire area is surrounded by the impressive mountains of the Cape Overberg, as well as hundreds of species of spectacular fynbos that is endemic to this country. The breath-taking views combined with clean champagne air and natural beauty makes Vermont a sought-after destination. Nestled between a nature reserve on one side and the ocean on another, many properties enjoy beautiful views
